🤩A 90 minute 1-to-1 coaching session
Intense mock interview
We will run through all the stations in the UK Dermatology interview, and I will share my experience and tips to help you maximise your interview scores. The stations are found on the ST3 recruitment website: research & academic medicine, clinical scenario and suitability and commitment stations.
The session will be conducted as a mock interview where I ask questions in the format of the 3 stations. Following this, I will provide immediate feedback so you can reflect and improve for the future.
For anyone who is applying to a non-training Dermatology job, we can tailor the coaching towards your specific situation.
Research & academic medicine
This station is also known as the abstract station. Most of the candidates find this station difficult as there are a lot of things to do within a short span of time. In this station, you will be given a short abstract to read and you will need to critically appraise it over 5-7 minutes. I will share with you an efficient and fool-proof way of reviewing and presenting any abstract you are given.
Clinical scenario
In this station, you will be given a clinical scenario and asked to discuss your examination findings and management plan. We will go through a common clinical scenario and I will highlight important keywords, phrases and management plans that the interviewers are looking for.
Suitability and commitment
In this station, you will be asked about your portfolio and commitment to the specialty. I will show you how to 'sell' yourself without sounding arrogant and how to frame your answers to common interview questions ie 'Why do you want to apply to Dermatology?'

Dermatology is the most competitive medical specialty in the UK and across the world. There are limited training numbers each year. It is difficult to get in and there are people who have tried multiple times with little success. In fact, the competition ratio can be as high as 6 applications to 1 training number!
There are limited resources available for people wanting to apply to Dermatology. When I was a junior doctor, I had no one to ask for advice and only managed to get to where I am by making loads of mistakes in the process.

After booking the session, you will receive a Calendly link to schedule a time for our virtual meet up.
You will complete a short questionnaire about yourself and areas you want to work on.
We will have a 90 minute mock interview, catered specific to your needs.
If you find the session useful and would like to continue meeting up, you can book further sessions with me.

I’m Chris, also known as Doctor Chris or theskinmedic on YouTube. I’m a UK trained consultant dermatologist, having sat my interviews in 2021 and 2022. During my interview, I managed to score a total of 38/40 and achieved full marks for the abstract and clinical stations. I have also been an interviewer for dermatology applications as well and am passionate in helping people to get into this specialty.
